This "Checklist of the Lepidoptera of Germany" presents a distributional list of all 3.682 Lepidoptera species recorded from Germany. The distribution of each species in the federal states is indicated in four periods: recorded only until 1900, last recorded 1901-1980, last recorded 1981-2000, and last recorded 2001-2016. A separate chapter deals with 312 non-native species which were accidentally introduced, recorded erroneously or whose occurence is unexplained or doubtful.
