67 species of Arctiidae hitherto mostly placed in Spilosoma or Paralacydes (Maenas) or still undescribed are grouped in the genus Lemyra. This is a certainly monophyletic, closely related group, demonstrated by synapomorphies like the little variable structure of the male genitalia (as far as known) and sexual dimorphism with females different in size, pattern and even in color, having the last two abdominal segments uniformly coloured and covered with dense woolly hair, otherwise only known from a few South American genera. The genus Lemyra is considered to be closely related with Spilosoma (in a restricted sense), the sister-genus is still unknown. The genus Allochrista Roepke is transfered from the Lithosiinae to the Arctiinae and placed in the synonymy of Lemyra. 25 further synonymies of species group and generic names are established as well as 54 new combinations of species group names. 12 new species and one new subspecies are described in Lemyra. 3 names are removed from synonymy, 1 name is changed in status from subspecific to specific rank. 24 Lectotypes are designated. The species javana Roepke is transfered from Secusio (Nyctemerinae), a genus which is not represented in the Indo-Australian region, to the synonymy of Lemyra singularis Roepke. New taxa: Lemyra nigricosta n. sp., Lemyra excelsa n. sp., Lemyra nocturna n. sp., Lemyra barliga n. sp., Lemyra kobesi n. sp., Lemyra dejongi n. sp., Lemyra alleni n. sp., Lemyra copiosa n. sp., Lemyra khasiana n. sp., Lemyra diluta n. sp., Lemyra jeremyi n. sp., Lemyra philippinica n. sp., Lemyra anormala danieli n. ssp.
