A revision of Othius Stephens, 1829. III. The species of the Western Palaearctic region exclusive of the Atlantic Islands (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Xantholininae)
Types and further material of the Western Palaearctic species of Othius Stephens - exclusive of the species endemic to the Atlantic Islands - from various museum and private collections are revised. 24 valid species and two subspecies are recognized. Four new species are described: Othius wunderlei n. sp. from southwestern Spain, Othius permutatus n. sp. from the Carpathians, Orthius serratus n. sp. and Orthius solodovnikovi n. sp., both from the Caucasus.
