The malacofauna of French Polynesia is probably one of the least well-known in the world. This book largely fills this gap. In addition, many species new to science or never yet cited are presented for the first time in this book. This bilingual edition, in preparation since 2007, compiles more than 3000 species - of which 2540 are illustrated - and presents the majority of marine molluscs observed to date in this vast region of the central South Pacific, an area of ocean as large as Europe. It was made possible thanks to the determination of its authors and the network they have built over the years with renowned scientists and malacologists from all over the world.
