All species of Psammobiidae known to occur off South Africa are discussed. These include 13 described species, namely Asaphis violascens (Forsskal in Niebuhr, 1775), Gari costlata (W. Turton, 1822), Gari depressa (Pennant, 1777), Gari maculosa (Lamarck, 1818), Gari pallida (Deshayes, 1855), Gari pennata (Deshayes, 1855), Gari pulcherrima (Deshayes, 1855), Heterodonax ludwigii (Krauss, 1848), Heteroglypta contraria (Deshayes, 1863), Hiatula burnupi (G. B. Sowerby III, 1894), Hiatula capensis (G. B. Sowerby III, 1889), Hiatula clouei Bertin, 1880 and Hiatula lunulata (Deshayes, 1855). A further two species are described herein, namely Gari aikeni n. sp. and Gari bisculpta n. sp. New taxa: Gari aikeni n. sp., Gari bisculpta n. sp.
