A Total of 235 muricid species belonging to 9 subfamilies and 54 genera are introduced and described in this volume. Among them, 8 species are recorded in China for the first time. This volume is divided into two parts. Part one is a comprehensive survey, dealing with the review of research history, morphology, systematic description, geographical distribution, biology and economic value of the family. Part two is a systematic description, presents the detailed account of morphological features, biological characteristics, geographical distribution and economic values of each species of the taxa. The scientific names for a few species are discussed and revised, and keys to all the taxonomic categories are presented.
