Info
circa 1793 - the 8 handcoloured plates discovered by R. Homberg with a text in French, explaining the history of these rare plates and giving an explanation of the figures. On leaves. In perfect condition.
These plates are qualified "never distributed" but they were, certainly in a very few numbers. The number of copies of plate V found by Homberg (353) signifies that the work has certainly been printed in about 350 copies, not 250 as stated often. An opportunity for anybody to juge the work done more than 200 years ago! [cf. Lydie Rigout: About the "unknown" plates of Ernst & Engramelle: Papillons d'Europe, The Bulletin of the Amateur Entomologist's Society, Number 439, December 2001, p. 247].
